Humatech Awards Exclusive Distributorship to Montana Agricultural Company

MESA, Ariz., May 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Humatech, Inc. (OTCBB:HUMT) announced today that Great Falls-based BioTech Agricultural has purchased limited exclusive distribution rights for Humatech's agricultural and retail products in the state of Montana.

"As part of our new sales expansion efforts in Montana, we met with three members of BioTech's management to discuss their needs and capabilities," said Humatech President & CEO David Williams. "When we came to agreement on terms, they sent us $50,000 for their initial purchase, and we immediately shipped product to them. Today's announcement underscores the very positive results that BioTech has seen so far."

"Our decision to pursue a distributorship in this industry was based on many aspects," said BioTech Agricultural President Dean R. Carroll. "We wanted to partner with a company that carried a product line that had proven itself in the field.

"Having spoken with university agricultural professors, other Humatech distributors, farmers using Humatech's agricultural products, as well as retail stores that carry the Organic Advantage line, it became very evident that Humatech consistently produced products that are excellent in its field, Carroll continued.

"Our second goal," he said, "was to find a company that was honest, and would provide the training needed to sell their products and have them work for our customers as expected. Within a week of finalizing our distributorship agreement, Humatech's President, David Williams, came to Montana and provided the necessary training and tools for our company to succeed.

"During his stay in Montana, David provided us with material to create an effective sales manual, and also consulted with many local farmers interested in reducing their costs and increasing their efficiency," Carroll noted. "Since his visit, our company has been able to sell and consult with many different people within the farming, greenhouse, home and garden industry."

Carroll, who was educated in plant biotechnology at Montana State University-Bozeman, said that in its first two weeks of distribution, his company has established several test plots on sugar beets, alfalfa, and range grasses. He has also established garden test plots through the local Hutterite colonies.

Carroll said BioTech has been able to show the effectiveness of using Humatech's humate additive "Aqua-F" used as an extender to enhance herbicide efficiency to control weeds that are difficult to kill before mid-May. On April 21, 2004, one month before the recommended herbicide treatment time, he killed a field of weeds from the leaf of the plant to the roots. The only green weeds growing in the field were in a small area missed during initial application. This allowed the farmer to plow and plant his field one month earlier than expected. The BioTech president said his firm will be conducting extensive tests on other weeds such as Canadian Thistle, leafy spurge, and other deep root perennial weeds through the spring and summer.

"With test plots starting to grow, several physical changes have been noticed in fields treated with HumaTech products," Carroll observed. "The green color of the leaves darkens considerably within days of application, suggesting that the chlorophyll amounts may have increased in the leaves. It has also been determined that "Aqua F" is a very effective herbicide carrier in weed control. It also appears that when these high quality humate products are added to flowers, faster leaf growth occurs, and an overall healthier looking plant develops."

"Since starting this work in 1978, Humatech has developed a variety of organic based products that can solve most problems farmers encounter with soil and plant health. The fact that Dean Carroll and his company came to us underscores the increase in demand for our products," Williams concluded.
