Datamonitor Report Cites Strong Offerings from Harland Financial Solutions

ATLANTA, May 6, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Harland Financial Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of John H. Harland Company (NYSE:JH), today announced that independent market analyst Datamonitor has highlighted several Harland Financial Solutions products in its recent report entitled Branch Renewal in US Retail Banking (DMTC0939).

Datamonitor helps 5,000 of the world's leading companies address complex business issues through proprietary databases and industry expertise in six industry sectors. According to their recently released report, branch renewal is fast becoming the most significant area of distribution channel technology spending in US retail banking and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 22% between 2003 and 2006. Further, Datamonitor expects some 26% of US branches to have been renewed by 2006.

"Combining best-of-breed teller automation functionality with CRM for the branch will be essential," states Datamonitor analyst Christine Skouenberg. In the teller applications arena, for example, Datamonitor's report refers to Harland Financial Solutions' Encore!(R) Suite and EZTeller(R) solutions. "Targeted at large banks, the Encore! Suite presents a solid offering, combining teller, deposit and loan origination, and CRM functionality," continues Skouenberg. "EZTeller is an attractive solution for community banks. It can be implemented fully out-of-the-box, enabling a cost-effective implementation of a best-of-breed teller automation solution."

Also referenced in the report is Harland Financial Solutions' Laser Pro(R) product for its key compliant loan origination functionality and the Touche(R) Customer Relationship Management Solution, rounding out the company's fully integrated suite of retail solutions.

"We believe that there is significant opportunity for Harland Financial Solutions over the next several years. As financial institutions focus on their branches with renewed vigor, we are poised to present best-of-breed, integrated retail solutions for any size and type of financial institution," said Lois Roberts, President of Harland Financial Solutions Lending and Retail Solutions Group.
