Blyth, Inc. Divests Decorative Gift Bag Business

GREENWICH, Conn., May 11, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Blyth, Inc. (NYSE:BTH), a leader in home decor and home fragrance products, today announced the sale of its Jeanmarie Creations decorative gift bag and gift tag business to Jeanmarie management on April 6, 2004.

Robert B. Goergen, Blyth's Chairman of the Board and CEO, commented, "Jeanmarie Creations was purchased by Blyth in 1995 and marked the first step in the diversification of our product offering within the broader home expressions category. Sales have nearly doubled since acquisition, and the business has attractive profitability metrics. Blyth has approximately doubled in size since acquiring Jeanmarie. In light of that growth, we have recognized the need to focus on our larger, seasonal and home decor businesses. Moreover, the de-emphasis of certain mass channel business has been part of the Company's strategic direction. Thus, the sale to Jeanmarie's capable management team is positive for both of us."
