HERNDON, Va., May 12, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has received the Professional Control Force contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide modeling and simulation to train Air Force battle staff in planning and controlling an air campaign during wartime.
Under this follow-on contract, Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector will continue to provide modeling and simulation training for the Air Force's Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC), Numbered Air Force, and Air and Space Operations Center staff.
"We have a stable workforce of highly qualified and experienced exercise planning and control professionals," said Gregg Donley, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Technical Services business unit. "This knowledge base will continue to provide the Air Force with the necessary critical training it needs for air campaign scenarios."
This training will provide the Air Force with the services necessary to conduct command-and-control training for the JFACC team and to conduct tests and experimentation within the Air and Space Operations Center environment.
Northrop Grumman IT will also provide support services for exercises and demonstrations that range from initial event planning and schedule formulation to design and development of operational scenarios governing the conduct of the event. Prior to any event, Northrop Grumman will validate the communications and simulation configurations and test a broad range of information systems comprising the Air and Space Operations Center environment.
Work on this Professional Control Force program will be performed at the 505 Command and Control Wing, 505 Exercise Control Squadron, at Hurlburt Field, Fla. Northrop Grumman has held the Professional Control Force contract since 1999. This follow-on contract allows the company to provide training to the Air Force through 2009.
The contract value is $21 million over five years.
