Nighthawk Receives Order From El Paso Electric Company

DENVER, May 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nighthawk Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:NIHK) announced today that it has received an initial order from El Paso Electric Company for its CEO-700 whole house disconnect units. El Paso Electric plans to install the units on a test basis in order to wirelessly connect and disconnect power to widely dispersed sites, rather than sending work crews to perform the task. El Paso Electric, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, generates and distributes electricity through an interconnected system to approximately 314,000 customers in west Texas and southern New Mexico.

Myron Anduri, Nighthawk's President, commented, "We're pleased that El Paso Electric has chosen to initiate a program utilizing Nighthawk's CEO-700. As with other utilities, El Paso feels that the CEO-700 could provide an economical and reliable alternative to what is still today a very manual and time-consuming process, the simple connection and disconnection of power to houses and businesses. History has shown that our utility customers buy first on a smaller trial basis, and then return for repeat business on a larger scale based on the benefits derived from using our products.."

H. Douglas Saathoff, CEO of Nighthawk, added, "Our philosophy is simple. Our products save time and money for our customers. New customers become repeat customers when they realize how simple our products are to install and use, and how much time and money they can save by using our products. Electric utilities similar to El Paso Electric have told us that they feel they can maximize their savings by installing thousands of our devices throughout their customer base. We've already announced this year that PECO Energy ordered up to 2,000 Nighthawk units in order to shed unnecessary loads during peak demand periods, and that Central Vermont Public Service has now placed multiple orders with Nighthawk Systems for their load control program. Through recent and future announcements, the Company wants to communicate the message that we are reaching new customers, and these customers should provide repeat business and more rapid growth as we move forward. We continue to build a more diversified and stronger customer base."
