Global Terror Has a New Name -- Counterterrorist Agent Seeks to Foil Plot of World Dominance in New Novel

SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 21, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- With countries worldwide focused on al-Qaida's threats of violence, it is easy to overlook other sources of fear. In his new novel, The Second Confirmation (now available through AuthorHouse), Stan Papell weaves action, espionage and sinister corporate crime into one chilling tale.

Russia's best counterterrorist agent, Aleksey Ivanov, has been assigned to obtain a compact disc of classified information from the president of the United States and deliver it to Russia's president. The information on the CD is fake, the assignment merely a test of Aleksey's loyalty to his motherland. Aleksey's chief, General Gennadiy Khristenko, knows this to be true and has copied the real information on another CD. Gennadiy secretly meets with Aleksey to reveal the horrible truth: A newly formed corporation called "Globa-Link" plans to merge the world's most powerful corporations into one, with the goal of global corporate rule under the name Global, Inc.

Gennadiy tasks Aleksey with stopping this, and when information leaks out to Global, Inc.'s masterminds, Aleksey's death becomes their main objective. With support from his allies in France, America and Russia, including his beautiful, savvy wife, Yelena, Aleksey races to reveal the truth in a global press conference, while the greedy world powers seek to destroy anyone who threatens their ultimate goal.

Meanwhile, an undetected plot of terror is in progress as Afghan terrorist Abdul Sayyaf makes his way into America. With the help of a black Muslim man living in New York, Abdul hopes to make his final sacrifice as he blows himself up in the heart of New York City. Even if Global, Inc. fails, America still faces an act of terrorism not seen since Sept. 11.

An imaginative and breathtaking thriller with peaks and plummets, The Second Confirmation rivets readers until the very last page.
