LAS VEGAS, May 25, 2004(PRIMEZONE) -- The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) announced today that James E. Maurin, chairman of Stirling Properties, Covington, La., has been selected by the ICSC board of trustees and members to serve as its chairman for the 2004-2005 term. Mr. Maurin officially assumed his role as chairman yesterday during ICSC's annual Meeting of Regular Members during the 2004 Spring Convention in Las Vegas, Nev.

Mr. Maurin has been an active and dedicated member of ICSC for over 25 years. Over the years, he has held a number of positions for ICSC including vice president of the Southern Division (1999-2002), state director for Louisiana (1995-1997), chairman of the annual ICSC Spring Convention in 1999, and was a member of the ICSC board of trustees from 1997-2003. He currently serves on ICSC's Government Relations Committee, Alliance Taskforce and Political Action Committees. Succeeding Kathleen Nelson, managing director/group leader for the mortgage and real estate division of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association-College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF), New York, Mr. Maurin will be the association's 45th chairperson.

"Jimmy has been a dynamic and outstanding volunteer for ICSC for over two decades. I am pleased that our board and our members have recognized his contributions to the success of our association and have elected him as our next chairperson," said ICSC's President and CEO, Michael P. Kercheval. "Jimmy has been in the retail real estate industry for close to 30 years, and his knowledge and experience will be an asset to our association in the coming year. Mr. Maurin is one of the founders of Stirling Properties and currently serves as its chairman. Along with his affiliation with ICSC, he is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the World President's Organization (WPO), The Louisiana Committee of 100, Tulane University Business School Council, the Louisiana State University (LSU) Foundation, the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) and the LSU College of Business Dean's Advisory Council. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University and holds an MBA from Tulane University. Mr. Maurin resides in Hammond, La., with his wife Lillian.
