Buffalo Technology Offers Instant Wireless Connectivity for Notebooks

The Router / Card Kit is a Quick and Inexpensive Solution for Immediate Installation of a Wireless Network

NEW YORK, May 25, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- CeBIT America -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of networking solutions for home, SOHO and SMBs, today announced a simple and affordable solution for setting up a wireless network. The Buffalo AirStation(tm) 54Mbps Wireless Startup Kit (WBR-G54PK) provides home, SOHO and SMB users with all the necessary tools for starting a wireless network.

The WBR-G54PK includes Buffalo's AirStation 54Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WBR2-G54) and the AirStation 54Mbps Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54L). The solution is designed for the home or office and allows users to create a wireless network with very little hassle and cost.

"There are about 5 million homes in the US alone that have installed a wireless network* and hot spots are popping up everywhere. Consumers and businesses alike want to jump on the Wi-Fi bandwagon," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of Buffalo Technology's Networking Division. "We are offering a solution that makes it easy for them. Because our new router/card kit provides AOSS support, these users get the added benefit of instant installation and simple wireless security."

Designed for both 802.11b and 802.11g networks, the WBR-G54PK offers easy and secure wireless set-up for notebooks and includes Buffalo's AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSSTM). AOSS allows users to set-up a high-speed secure network with the push of a button and the click of a mouse.

The WBR2-G54 offers a built-in 4-port Ethernet switch and includes a robust feature-set such as WDS support for bridging and repeating and external antenna support for enhanced range. The product is compatible with both DSL and cable modems and offers a built-in DHCP server for simplified network administration. The WBR2-G54 incorporates advanced security features such as Wi-Fi Protected Access(tm) (WPA), Privacy Separator and Buffalo's exclusive Intrusion Detector -- a powerful firewall that identifies and blocks outside attacks. Additional security features include dynamic packet filtering, NAT support and SPI firewall.

The WLI-CB-G54L is a 32-bit cardbus card that is perfectly suited for any notebook PC with a Type II or Type III PC card slot. 54Mbps of wireless data rates ensure maximum performance. Security features include WPA (TKIP) and standard WEP.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the WBR-G54PK will be available in June at a street price of $129.99. For more information about Buffalo Technology and its products, please visit the company's Web site at www.buffalotech.com.
