EMS Announces First Dual AMT-50 Multi-Channel SATCOM Installation on a Global Express Aircraft

GENEVA, May 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today, at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE), that for the first time, a dual AMT-50 multi-channel SATCOM antenna installation, integrated with an aeronautical satcom system, has been performed successfully on a Global Express Aircraft.

The two AMT-50 antennas were integrated with the EMS HSD-128 high-speed data terminal and HSD-X High Speed Data extension units to provide 4-Channels of Swift-64 service to the aircraft. This solution provides the operator with up to 256 kb/s speeds for data transmission, Internet access, email, and videoconferencing. The system will allow for the transfer of data at speeds up to 100 times faster than a traditional Aero-H satcom system.

The system was installed on a Bombardier Global Express business aircraft by Savannah Air Center in Savannah, Georgia, USA. The Global Express aircraft operator selected EMS's AMT-50 multi-channel SATCOM antenna and the EMS HSD-128 high-speed data terminal combination for its uncompromised reliability and value. The AMT-50 is the most popular global Inmarsat High Gain Antenna in business aviation.

Savannah Air Center is an authorized dealer of EMS's Aeronautical SATCOM products since October 25, 2000. The company was awarded the first STC for the installation of the EMS HSD-128 on a Gulfstream GV aircraft last year. "While this system on the Global Express is similar in design to the installation we did on the GV, ensuring adequate space for the second AMT-50 became critical," said Jeff Zacharius, Savannah Air Center vice president.
