Food for Thought -- New Book of Poems Offers Engaging Messages on Emotions of Life

CORONA, N.Y., June 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Simplicity is often a characteristic of great poetry. Combine that with heartfelt expressions of love, joy and empathy, and one has created poems that inspire and touch the soul. Margaret Munnerlyn has achieved just that with her new compilation of "poetic short stories," Food for Thought (now available through AuthorHouse).

People often talk about the simple things in life, which frequently translates into appreciating family, friends and other loved ones. Munnerlyn writes about these people with affection. However, she also touches on some of the problems and emotions of life that bring discomfort or confusion, such as dealing with insecurity or recognizing mistakes.

In "Tomorrow," she writes about the clean slate each new day brings:

"Tomorrow what about tomorrow?/who does it belong to? is it yours, is it/mine? can we reserve, preserve or/Appoint ourselves for tomorrow? what is/Tomorrow, tomorrow is a mystery, who's to/Say I claim it! we are not able to live/The future today nor are we able to retrieve/yesterday except in our minds. today or/Part of today is all we have however, today/will soon be yesterday and tomorrow will soon be today."

Munnerlyn's love of writing began as a child, when her mother would read her bedtime stories.
