New Self-Help Book for Women Will Help Reduce Divorce Rate

SANDPOINT, Idaho, June 9, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- A new book helps young women avoid the relationship pitfalls of their parents and grandparents that led to failed marriages or divorce. Julia J. Austin has authored It Starts with You, an insightful and practical guidebook for women on finding the right man and establishing a fulfilling and mutually-satisfying marriage. Undoubtedly a tall order, but this new self-help book has won the admiration of professionals including Dr. John Gray, author of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus.

With almost half of marriages ending in divorce, a lifelong commitment with someone has become dreadful. Modern women have been told to discard fairytale relationship notions, e.g., "a knight in shining armor". But how do women exactly find the right man for a lifelong relationship? As the title suggests, a healthy and satisfying relationship begins with being the right person for someone. The book is divided into four parts: the first helps women examine themselves and how their strengths and weaknesses affect the dynamics of a relationship. Then the book shows single women how to look for the right man; and when they are in a relationship, determine if the man is the right person for them for a lifetime commitment; and if he is, how to maintain a healthy and fulfilling relationship with him.

Austin, who has also been a personal therapist, draws from her professional and personal experiences and writes in a down-to-earth and conversational style. She went through failed relationships before finding her husband with whom she has shared a seventeen-year relationship. Best-selling author Dr. Gray considers Austin's new book as a "practical guide for women . . . on developing a success relationship with a man that will last a lifetime." Licensed family therapist, Ken D. Janzen has likened It Starts with You to a rope that can "provide the personal lifeline out of hurtful experiences and naivete into fulfilled relationships."
