eGames CEO Challenges The Chesapeake Bay for Charity

LANGHORNE, Pa., June 9, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- eGames, Inc. (OTCBB:EGAM), a publisher of Family Friendly(tm), affordable consumer entertainment PC software games, today announced that Jerry Klein, President and CEO, will participate in the 4.4 mile Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (www.bayswim.com) on Sunday, June 13, 2004. The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) is one of America's premier open water swim challenges. The race starts from the shores of Sandy Point State Park, which is about five miles northeast of Annapolis, MD. The course extends eastward between the two spans of the William Preston Lane, Jr., Memorial Bridge (U.S. Highway 50) and finishes at a small sandy beach on Kent Island immediately south of the Bridge's eastern shore causeway adjacent to Hemingway's Restaurant, a local landmark.

The GCBS is a charitable fundraiser for the March of Dimes. The net proceeds of the event aid the March of Dimes in its Campaign for Healthier Babies. This will be Klein's seventeenth attempt of the race that he's successfully completed fifteen times. This year Klein is dedicating his effort to another worthy cause in addition to the March of Dimes, and that is the Boston Children's Hospital Liver Transplant Group. "This past December, late one afternoon I had emailed one of our developer's about making some changes to a program that was in development. He replied that he could easily handle the changes but would it be okay if the changes could wait a couple days until he resolved a personal matter. I responded that there was no immediate rush and that I hoped his personal matter was nothing too serious. He replied that unfortunately it was rather serious. His five month old son urgently needed a liver transplant and they were at the hospital awaiting a liver," stated Klein. "Fortunately, this story has a happy ending. Baby Smith (his name is concealed to protect the family's privacy) received the liver transplant and his recovery has exceeded his doctor's expectations. With the lifetime aid of anti-rejection drugs and periodic monitoring, Baby Smith should be able to live a normal life," added Klein.

"Every year, I dedicate my GCBS effort to a special cause in addition to the March of Dimes. Every time I compete, I see special athletes or special spectators that are less fortunate than me because of some injury or disease. The special athletes are particularly inspirational because I know how difficult it is for me to train for an endurance event, and I don't have any special needs. Compounding the difficulty of training and competing because of some special need requires an extraordinary commitment. Baby Smith's life so far has been extraordinary and his needs for the remainder of his life will be somewhat special. There are others like him that need help and support. This year my charitable contribution of $1,000 for the race will be shared equally between the March of Dimes and the Boston's Children Hospital Liver Transplant Group. Both are exceptionally worthy organizations that benefit the lives of children, and every child is special," commented Klein.
