The Prophet's Son -- New Novel Tells of Man Who Succumbs to Hatred

PORTLAND, Ore., June 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- In a story based on the tales of the Old Testament, Kenneth John Marks presents a gripping novel about Phinehas, the son of the prophet Eli, who succumbs to the forces of Satan. In Prophet's Son: Book 1: Descent to Darkness (now available through AuthorHouse), Phinehas is tricked by foes who fan the flames of bitterness toward his family's murderers.

Phinehas and his family were persecuted because of his father's status as a prophet. Eli made many enemies, which led to his murder, the selling of his children as slaves and the death of his wife by grief. Phinehas witnessed all of these atrocities and has carried a deep, burning hatred for those who caused his family such pain. God's teachings told him to release such hatred and do good toward his enemies, but Phinehas could not let go of his desire for revenge.

As the book opens, Phinehas is preparing to celebrate his forty-second anniversary with his wife. Zebulun, his employer at the perfumery, was a disciple of Eli's and is a close friend of Phinehas. He sends him home early that day, and on the way, Phinehas meets Judas, a foe of Eli's. Judas hated Eli because he banned his father from the temple and Jerusalem. Judas is a servant of the devil, and he befriended Phinehas in order to bring him down. Judas triggers the buried hatred Phinehas has carried toward his family's murderers and begins turning Phinehas against everyone in his life. As Phinehas pulls away from his wife and only daughter, Rachel, Judas also poisons his mind against Zebulun.

Judas' plan for Phinehas' downfall utilizes several accomplices and an intense, unbridled hatred. Complicating matters further is Rachel's relationship with Zebulun's son, Asa, which is now jeopardized because of Phinehas new hate for his longtime friend.

Prophet's Son is the first in a riveting series about the forces of good and evil, a spiritual battle in the heavenly realms which rages to control the souls of people here on Earth.
