Chelsea's Doom -- New Novel Tells Story of Innocent Teenager's Kidnapping

TOWNSEND, Wis., June 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Chelsea King was an average teenage girl worried about the prom and her grades before the normal life she knew was ripped away. Kidnapped, she is petrified by what awaits her. Jamee Pilant tells a complex character story of love and hate in the new novel, Chelsea's Doom (now available through AuthorHouse).

Pilant follows 17-year-old Chelsea as she tries to survive in the captivity of immoral gangsters. Kidnapped from the street, she spends days in silent hysteria as she speeds across five states in a van. When they finally stop, she learns that what seemed like a random abduction was actually a well-thought-out plan. She is surrounded by enemies, all of whom want to possess her in their own devious ways. Tony Aliverez, a mafia king, is responsible for organizing her capture to exact revenge on her father. Tony wants to kill her, but instead gives her to Mike, the man who actually kidnapped her from the streets and who has developed a romantic interest in her.

Locked in a luxurious apartment and surrounded by men looking to commit deviant acts, Chelsea longs to return home to her small Wyoming town. She learns that there are people who only live to commit evil. She is nearly sacrificed to a satanic cult, but Mike has other plans for her. As she awakens to her sexuality, it is ripped away by rape. Forced into prostitution, she escapes and returns home. Although he has hurt her, she cannot get Mike out of her head. As he tumbles closer to danger, Chelsea searches her feelings to decide what she must do, even if it means losing her life.

A gritty, realistic novel, Chelsea's Doom is an intense character study of the seedy people who skulk amongst the underworld and the innocent minds that must adapt to them or die.

Pilant was born in Boulder, Colo., raised in Casper, Wyo. and has lived in Illinois and Wisconsin. A single mother of three, she earned a degree in education from the University of Wyoming. She has always loved to write, but Chelsea's Doom is her first novel.
