Neoware Thin Client Appliances and Software help Delaware Department of Labor Improve Service to Taxpayers at Lower Cost

Delaware Department of Labor Makes Public Access Workstations More Reliable and Secure by Replacing PCs with Neoware Thin Client Appliances

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., June 21, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Neoware Systems (Nasdaq:NWRE), the leading supplier of award-winning software, services, and appliances for thin client computing, today announced that the State of Delaware has standardized on Neoware's software and thin client appliances for use in all of its Department of Labor employment offices.

Neoware's thin client appliances are powering the Delaware Department of Labor's public access workstations throughout the state of Delaware, dramatically improving security and reliability. Using Neoware thin client appliances, job applicants can apply for unemployment, search job postings on the Web, send and receive e-mail, or perform other employment research at publicly available workstations.

The security of Neoware's thin client appliances is giving Delaware residents non-stop access to the Department of Labor's electronic services, speeding up unemployment claim processing, helping applicants find new positions more quickly, providing e-mail access and improving quality of service.

With significantly enhanced security compared to personal computers, Neoware thin client appliances are immune from standard PC viruses that users might encounter while they're surfing the Web or receiving e-mail. Since the Neoware devices are used by the public, the Department of Labor wanted a secure solution to eliminate downtime and costly ongoing administration.

"Before switching to Neoware thin client appliances, we were constantly dealing with problems with our personal computers," commented Wade Bendler of the State of Delaware Department of Labor. "We were unable to lock the PCs down as tightly as we needed so users were able to reconfigure the PCs or infect them with viruses. It wasn't malicious, but being public access PCs anything could happen."

"Fixing personal computers was costly and time consuming, requiring a technician to sit at the PC, manually reconfigure the software or eliminate the virus, test the fixes, then lock the PC back up. This was repeated with every damaged PC, requiring frequent service calls," Bendler continued. "That's all changed since standardizing on Neoware's thin client devices, because Neoware's enhanced security locks down the thin client appliances so users can't make changes. Neoware thin clients also are immune from the standard PC viruses that previously caused so many problems."

"Now we hardly get any service calls," stated Barry Fellman, the engineer for Versalign Inc., Wilmington, Del., who supplied Neoware's thin client appliances to the State of Delaware. "Neoware thin client appliances just work, which is allowing the State of Delaware to better serve its citizens and save money at the same time."

"Neoware software and thin client appliances are excellent solutions for anyone looking to improve the security and reliability of their computer systems," commented Michael Kantrowitz, Chairman and CEO of Neoware. "Neoware server-based computing solutions are ideal for public access environments because they provide the capability of today's most powerful personal computers at much lower up-front and total costs. Because Neoware products are more secure, more reliable and more manageable than personal computers, they are providing meaningful ongoing savings to organizations around the world."
