New Book Projects America's Future in the Hands of the Republican-Religious Rightist Alliance

STONY BROOK, N.Y., June 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Hailed as "frighteningly entertaining" by Skipp Porteous of Freedom Writer Magazine, "a haunting fictitious portrayal of fascism in the U.S." by Julie Cooper of Ground Zero News, and "a must read for thinking people" by Jon Nelson of Atheists United Newsletter, Jonathan Westminster's new book, The 15% Solution, is a force to reckon with. Originally published in 1996 and reissued with a new introduction in 2004, it enables readers to see a Republican-Religious Rightist future based on the recent Republican-Religious Rightist past. It exposes the close alliance between the Republican Party and the Religious-especially the Christian-Right and their goal to convert the traditional American constitutional democratic form of government to a one-party, theocratic, homophobic, potentially racist, fascist dictatorship.

Premised on the supposition (in 1996) that in 2000 the Republicans would succeed in electing as President a not-too-bright candidate totally beholden to the Religious Right, the text is in the form of a fictional future history. The book is supposedly published in 2048, on the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Constitutional Democracy in the "Re-United States." It projects that once in power, the Republican-Religious Rightist alliance would then proceed to do what, since the Reagan era, they have clearly have been telling us they would do were they to gain power. It contains numerous real quotes and references from well-known and not-so-well-known leaders of this movement. Sadly, a number of projections and predictions made in the book as to Republican-Religious Rightist programs and policies have already come and are coming true. The book's New Introduction documents a number of such correct projections and predictions.

"The 15% Solution will help to confirm with facts the fears of the knowledgeable. It will also help to arm and even wake up the very concerned but not so knowledgeable. Hopefully, it will help in some small way to defeat George Bush on Nov. 2, 2004," says Westminster, a scholar of American constitutional history and constitutional law. With his unencumbered sense of trepidation and an earnest demonstration of patriotism, Westminster not only warns America of the dangers posed by Republican-Religious Rightist alliance. In his conclusion, Westminster shows, in words written in 1995 but most applicable to the upcoming Presidential election, how our beloved country can be saved from the highly possible destruction of traditional American Constitutional democracy that presently threatens us.
