Richard Wells, Ph.D. Appointed to Human BioSystems Advisory Board


PALO ALTO, Calif., June 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Harry Masuda, President and CEO of Human BioSystems (OTCBB:HBSC), a biomedical company engaged in research and development of new technologies to prolong the preservation periods of biological materials including blood platelets and donor organs, announced the appointment of Richard Wells, Ph.D. to the company's advisory board.

Dr. Wells has extensive experience in product development, both in industry and academia, in the fields of Pharmaceuticals, Molecular Biology and Cosmetics. His emphasis has been on creative and opportunistic product development, as well proactive problem solving in international technical, regulatory, and ingredient areas.

"His impressive educational and career background will prove to be a valuable asset for the future growth and direction of Human BioSystems (HBS)," Masuda said. "Dr. Wells will offer professional advice to a myriad of important projects. I am looking forward to his continued contribution in refining and commercializing our recently acquired skin cream product."

During the past year, Dr. Wells has been assisting HBS in formulating a user-friendly version of the special proprietary cream product owned by HBS. The cream is intended to find application for the treatment and care of skin damage and afflictions.

Dr. Wells began his job career in 1969 as Post Doctoral Research Associate/ Assistant Professor, University of Edinburgh, Scotland; The City University of New York, The University of Montreal, Canada; The University of New Brunswick, Canada; and The Max Plank Research Institute, Germany. The primary research field was extra-nuclear DNA information.

He joined Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in 1976 as Supervisor, Manufacturing Development. In 1979 he moved to Richardson Vicks, Inc. as Group Leader, Commercial Products Laboratory. From 1981-1988 he held the position of Director, Research and Development and Quality Control at Jafra Cosmetics, a subsidiary of the Gillette Company. In 1989 Dr. Wells joined the University of Southern California as Associate Director of Laboratories. In 1990 he was appointed Executive Technical Director at Arbonne Cosmetics. He joined Herbalife International in 1994 as Vice President Research and Development. From 2001 to the present, he has served as Chief Scientific Officer of Albion Creative Technologies, a company he founded.

Dr. Wells Graduated from Northampton College of Advanced Technology, London, in 1963 with a B.S. in Applied Physics, and in 1964 he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Edinburgh (MS in Biophysics). In 1965, he achieved another Postgraduate Diploma; MS in Genetics, from the University of Edinburgh and in 1968 at the same University, Dr. Wells was awarded a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology.
