Superscape Group plc's 3D Swerve Technology Selected by Sun Microsystems

Integration and distribution of Swerve 3D with a range of Sun products including Wireless Toolkit

HOOK, Hampshire, U.K./SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. June 28, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Superscape Group plc (LSE:SPS), leaders in revolutionary entertainment for mobile phones, announces that Swerve Client, the company's JSR 184 compliant 3D software, has been selected by Sun for integration and distribution with a selection of Sun products including Sun's J2ME Wireless Toolkit. Anyone downloading the Wireless Toolkit from the Sun Website (www.java.sun.com) will automatically have access to Superscape's Swerve Client as the standard implementation for the development and testing of 3D Java applications for mobile phones and other wireless devices supporting the J2ME environment.

Kevin Roberts, CEO, Superscape Group plc said: "Sun's Wireless Toolkit is regarded as the standard J2ME test environment for developing Java midlets such as games and other applications and we are delighted to have been selected by Sun to provide the technology that extends Wireless Toolkit to cater for the needs of 3D application developers. By integrating our Swerve technology with this world-leading and globally recognised product, we are further extending the reach of our Swerve technology. Our objective is to ensure that Superscape's Swerve becomes the world's most widely available, industry-standard solution for the design and delivery of 3D mobile applications."

Sun selected Superscape as their chosen partner to work on this integration because of the company's adherence to the recently ratified international standard for the delivery of 3D rich media on mobile devices (Mobile 3D Graphics API/JSR-184).

"Superscape has played an important role in the development of the JSR 184 Java initiative and Swerve technology is an excellent solution for delivering 3D entertainment on mobile handsets," said Eric Chu, director, Consumer and Mobile Systems Group of Sun Microsystems. "We believe that our developers will be very enthusiastic about the capabilities provided by J2ME Wireless Toolkit 2.2 with Swerve integrated."
