Airvana President and CEO Randy Battat Named Winner Of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(r) Award

CHELMSFORD, Mass., July 1, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Airvana, Inc. (www.airvananet.com), a provider of All-IP, third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure, was named a winner by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(r) 2004 Award in New England in the Networking and Communications category. Randy Battat, president and CEO of Airvana, was selected from more than 14 finalists in the Technology Category for New England by an independent panel of judges comprised of local community and business leaders and announced at an award banquet on June 24 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

"I am pleased to accept this accolade on behalf of the entire Airvana family," said Battat. "This award is a testament to the company's common dedication and belief that 1xEV-DO technology is revolutionizing access to high-speed wireless data access and our long-term vision in becoming the top 1xEV-DO infrastructure provider."

Airvana's All-IP CDMA2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure enables carriers to deliver "always on" mobile wireless services over wireless networks at broadband speeds and at a lower cost per bit than any other 3G technology. Networks based on Airvana's All-IP 1xEV-DO infrastructure have already been deployed in North America, Latin America and Asia.

Airvana provides wireless carriers with end-to-end All-IP radio access infrastructure based on the 3G CDMA2000 1xEV-DO high-speed mobile standard. Since both IP and 1xEV-DO technologies are optimized for data, Airvana's infrastructure dramatically improves the economics of deploying high-speed mobile Internet services.

Battat will be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year(r) 2004 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the Overall National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(r), will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Spring, CA on November 20, 2004.
