About the Author

Al Ryan lives in Pala, California, with his wife, Carmelita. As a medical scientist, he spent much of his career residing in third world nations. With a sensitive and restless spirit, he turned his medical knowledge into a life of adventure. He was known as the man with a pocket of pens and a notebook in his hands. At the height of World War II, he celebrated his nineteenth birthday in the hedge-rows of France. He saw three hundred and two days of frontline combat. In his writing, Mr. Ryan draws heavy on his own experiences.
