Think, Then Act -- New Book Introduces Techniques to Control Behavior

MESA, Ariz., July 13, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Even when people are ready to make a change in their lives, they sometimes need a little push in the right direction. Stop Think Act: Improving Behavior Through Cognitive Intervention (now available through AuthorHouse), by Grisper, provides guidance on how to take control of one's behavior to make positive changes in life.

"The concept of cognitive intervention teaches the participant to notice and observe their own thoughts as they think them," writes Grisper. Under her guidance, readers learn to "recognize (their) own patterns of thinking, feeling and perceiving and how these patterns result in and support (their) behavior." They also discover how to implement techniques that can increase reasoning skills and problem-solving abilities.

Stop Think Act illustrates how readers can control their behavior by carefully examining the thought processes sparked by various situations. "Everyone is the product of forces beyond their personal control," writes Grisper. However, she emphasizes that everyone has the capacity for self awareness and growth if they can intervene with the thought processes that lead to negative behavior. Discussing such topics as stress management, interpersonal skills and self esteem, Grisper encourages readers to acknowledge what is happening both in the world around them and internally.

A comprehensive guide that is easy to understand, Stop Think Act can benefit anyone ready to make a positive change in their lives.
