Built for space constraining environments and simple organization, the slim 1U high console drawer is composed of a 17" monitor, keyboard and mouse pad. Each SMK-590R can handle up to 16 computers, servers and devices or be daisy-chained to others making it ideal for medium to large-scale computer rooms common to computer telephony, storage area networks and web server applications.
Users of the console drawer SMK-590R can monitor up to 64 devices simultaneously by daisy-chaining three additional KVM switches, thus providing industrial environments a simple and straight forward method of monitoring and entering data on multiple computers thus omitting the need for multiple monitors, keyboards and mouses. The 1280 x 1024 17" monitor is a flat panel TFT screen with anti-glare tempered glass for added protection to the LCD screen (15" monitors are also available).
It's 1U height size provides increased advantages because it uses less space leaving more valuable space for computers. Built on heavy duty metal sliding rails and a lightweight heavy duty chassis, the SMK-590R console drawer easily extends 35.4" from the base and allows for better angling of the monitor for user preferred viewing angles.
The keyboard has 105 keys covered with a moisture-resistant membrane to prevent spillage and dust from entering the keys and a touchpad for mouse controls. The unique modular design of SMK-590R allows users to maintain and to repair the LCD display without powering down the KVM switches or any of the PC's connected. Each port connects to other devices using 3-in-1 D-Sub 15 VGA-PS/2 cables reducing the need for a separate keyboard and mouse connection for each device along with multiplied cabling.

The SMK-590R meets EIA 310c and IEC-3 specifications, meets CE and FCC safety approvals and is compatible with DOS, Win3.X, Win 95/98/98SE/2000/ME/XP, WinNT, Netware, SCP Unix, HP Unix and Linux. The SMK-590R is priced at $1,900 and is available upon requested orders.
