PI Develops New Web-Based Clinical Information Delivery Solutions For Physicians

CHICAGO, Ill., July 20, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- PI (Physicians Interactive), a leader in the e-Detailing industry which it helped pioneer, is set to launch a series of new initiatives that will further expand its position as a full-service provider of Internet-based clinical information delivery solutions for physicians and healthcare professionals.

According to Mark A. Thierer, president of PI, the company's focus has broadened beyond e-Detailing and now concentrates on developing a variety of innovative, new solutions that physicians will rely upon throughout the course of their day to improve the overall quality of healthcare.

The centerpiece of the strategy is a proven understanding of how physicians respond to web-based clinical and education information delivery systems and a robust technology platform that allows for the creation of innovative and engaging solutions.

PI initiated the strategy shortly after its parent company Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, acquired the assets of e-Detailing heavyweight RxCentric Inc. last year. Since then, PI has made several strategic new hires, expanded internationally, added several new specialties, and launched several new online technology-enabled sales and marketing solutions for the pharmaceutical and managed healthcare industry.

Building on the multimedia technology capabilities of RxCentric, PI recently launched Interplay, an interactive e-detailing game format that has been proven highly effective for engaging physicians in product education programs.

Among new offerings soon to be introduced is a web-based interactive video product designed to further engage physicians in product education programs, as well as a product designed to improve patient compliance. Also planned are upgrades to PI's successful solutions, PI Convention and PI Survey.

Coupled with the clinical decision making solutions provided by Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (Nasdaq:MDRX), PI maintains a steady stream of interactions with physicians throughout the day.

"Just as the RxCentric acquisition served to solidify our leadership in the e-Detailing market, these innovative solutions provide PI with an unparalleled ability to engage physicians throughout the course of their day -- whether at the point of care, at the office and even at their home," said Thierer. "Not only do we know how to reach and maintain relationships with physicians better than anyone else but we also know pharma and their need for more effective online promotional tools."

According to Thierer, all of these physician interactions serve to position PI as a thought leader, with more knowledge about a given physician than any of its competitors. The benefit to clients is in helping them overcome several marketing challenges, said Thierer, including increasing sales, collecting real-time market research and physician feedback, patient prescription renewals, and education of physicians, patients and sales representatives.

PI is now working with 49 pharma, biotech, and medical device companies, including eight of the top ten worldwide pharma companies such as AstraZeneca, Novartis, 3M, and P&G, and has an international presence in ten countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Mexico. PI's database of active users numbers more than 63,000 physicians and other healthcare professionals.

"Our growth is a reflection of our commitment in providing our clients with more innovative and proven solutions for interacting and strengthening the dialogue with physicians and other healthcare professionals," said Thierer. He further added that many of PI's eMarketing solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are now ingrained in the marketing mix.
