HERNDON, Va., July 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Christopher A. Waln vice president of strategy for the company's Information Technology (IT) sector.

Waln is reporting to James O'Neill, president, Northrop Grumman IT until a new vice president for business development and strategy is selected for the sector. Waln is responsible for developing the IT sector's overall business strategy, identifying external business opportunities and implementing strategic and operational plans.

Waln joined Northrop Grumman in 1997. Most recently, he was director of strategic planning for the IT sector's TASC business unit. Prior to joining the company, he served in various strategy positions during a 24-year career in the U.S. Air Force.

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University.
