When Your Parent's Childhood Trauma Takes Its Toll on You -- New Book Reveals Both Sides of the Tapestry

SAN MATEO, Calif., July 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Many of us were raised by parents who are survivors of childhood trauma. Many of us live in the shadows of our parents' unresolved childhood issues. If you find yourself in the same situation, chances are, you are not alone. In the inspiring new book, Both Sides of the Tapestry, Nancy Richardson says it is a fact that even happy and successful adults find that their parents' early experiences have influenced the quality of their lives. One's life view and personality dynamics are deeply rooted in the models provided by parents, as well as by one's own personal experience.

The book explores two interrelated lives-Nellie's childhood story filled with history and drama, and the author's metaphysical work of understanding how Nellie's traumas rolled down through the years and affected others. It includes insights on how we can reclaim our emotional freedom from damage done in childhood, and describes a model for understanding the purpose of our life in the context of a loving and intelligent universe. It provides the reader with glimpses of how subtle childhood influences and experiences can be revealed and healed in the past, present, and future.

Both Sides of the Tapestry concludes with a concept of interconnectedness of all life that is both graphic and deeply meaningful. "It puts our small lives into the context of a beautiful and powerful universal plan and shows how important each of us is in the realization of this great plan," says Richardson. "It marries self-knowledge with a higher and more purposeful metaphysical view that can be understood and utilized for a happier life."
