Love in the Time of War -- New Historical Novel Tells of Love Amidst the Clash of Civilizations

KANEOHE, Hawaii, July 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- "All is fair in love and war" is probably the biggest cliche in the annals of-well, yes-love and war. But it makes complete sense that one can move pass hackneyed impression and write a book about it as Nathaniel H.C. Kim has done in his fascinating new historical novel, Blue Wolf, Fallow Doe: a tale of love set amidst a clash of civilizations which will hold your attention from cover to cover.

The book is the sequel to his first historical novel, Khwarazm where the avenging hordes of Cinggis Qan invade the great Muslim kingdom of the Shah Muhammad Ala ad Deen. During the campaign, Cinggis Qan's firstborn son Jochi encounters Aisha, the beautiful daughter of the shah, and her betrothed Captain Qafar of the shah's Imperial Guard, and becomes enamored with her. The story continues as Jochi discovers that his attraction for the princess runs much deeper than he realized. While on campaign in the lands of the Orusud or Russians and Kama Bulgars, he learns that the princess and her captain are alive and living in the tent city of an old Mongol enemy, the Kangli Turks. Excited, Jochi sets out with his father's army to find the princess. Alas, he is not the only one with such desire as the brutal and arrogant Orus prince Mstislav Mstislavich Udaloy of Galicia mounts an army and sets out to find her, sparking an epic conflict that foreshadows the future of Russia for the next two hundred years.
