After Monday's Bell Market Commentary
On Monday, sales and prices of existing U.S. homes jumped to record highs in June as homebuyers rushed to take advantage of low mortgage rates. Sales of previously owned homes rose 2.1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.95 million units in June from an upwardly revised 6.81 million unit pace in May. The Dow ended down 88.11 points, or 0.88 percent, at 9,962.36, while the Nasdaq closed off 39.97 points, or 2.12 percent, at 1,849.28. The S&P 500 ended down 10.64 points, or 0.97 percent, at 1,086.20.
