QLogic Introduces Comprehensive Support for Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology

Fibre Channel and iSCSI HBAs will Support Intel EM64T

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Aug. 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the company that powers storage area networks (SANs), today announced its entire line of SANblade Fibre Channel and iSCSI host bus adapters will support the new Intel(r) Xeon(tm) processor-based platforms that include Intel(r) Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel(r) EM64T). Intel EM64T is an enhancement to the Intel IA-32 architecture, which allows the processor to run newly written 64-bit code and access larger amounts of memory. Compatible drivers from QLogic for Fibre Channel and iSCSI host bus adapters will be available in conjunction with the availability of versions of Red Hat, SUSE and Windows operating systems offering Intel EM64T support.

QLogic will provide Intel EM64T compatible device drivers for its SANblade QLA234x and QLA236x line of PCI-X to Fibre Channel HBAs, its SANblade QLE236x line of PCI-Express to Fibre Channel HBAs and its SANblade QLA40xx line of PCI-X to iSCSI HBAs. These products are all supported by QLogic SANsurfer device management software. QLogic drivers are downloadable at www.qlogic.com.

"For the massive installed base of 32-bit processor users, Intel EM64T technology is a welcome addition," said Frank Berry, vice president of marketing, QLogic Corp. "It is the goal of QLogic to make their migration to EM64T easy by providing support for a variety of Fibre Channel and iSCSI host bus adapters."
