The new Emulex LP10000ExDC and LP1050Ex HBAs are designed to provide a scalable and flexible SAN connectivity solution for new server platforms -- based on the Intel(r) Xeon(tm) Processor, more powerful chipsets, PCI Express and Intel(r) Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel(r) EM64T).
The Emulex LP10000ExDC and midrange LP1050Ex are high performance PCI Express HBAs with broad operating system support and the latest 64-bit extension driver technology. The entire family of LightPulse HBAs offers a firmware-based architecture designed to ensure driver compatibility across its entire product line. The Emulex LP10000 family of HBAs is software and driver compatible with previous generation Emulex HBAs, which enables OEMs and end users to migrate seamlessly to PCI Express, and also provides a robust feature set to fully complement this new and flexible, high performance system architecture.

The 64-bit Windows Server 2003, which utilizes the Microsoft Storport driver, is designed to take advantage of Emulex's 64-bit extensions driver technology that is integrated into the Emulex Storport miniport drivers. Emulex's previously installed based of HBAs may take advantage of the 64-bit extensions -- which provides customers with ongoing investment protection.
