New Issued Patents Strengthen Nano-Proprietary IP Portfolio

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Austin, TX -based Nano-Proprietary, Inc. (OTCBB:NNPP), through its subsidiary, Applied Nanotech, Inc. (ANI), today announced that three new patents were issued related to the use of electron emissions from carbon nanotubes for various applications. U.S. Patent No. 6,739,932 presents a low cost manufacturing process that can be easily implemented for field emission displays utilizing carbon nanotubes. This patent extends the current printing manufacturing technology developed by ANI to embossing techniques suitable for high volume manufacturing.

U.S. Patent No. 6,700,454 covers the use of carbon nanotubes electron emission for making integrated arrays of radio frequency sources in a single vacuum envelope. This invention is the base of the phase II SBIR grant being done in collaboration with Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation for developing traveling microwave tubes for radar applications (phased array radar).

Finally, U.S. Patent No. 6,750,461 extends the applications of electron emission from carbon nanotubes to achieving large area electron beam sources. Such sources are intended for applications in office automation equipment, ecology, homeland security and large area x-ray sources.

"These patents are very crucial to our strategy as we continue to strengthen our intellectual property base in nanotechnology and more specifically in the use of carbon nanotubes for immediate applications," said Marc Eller, Chief Executive Officer of Nano-Proprietary, Inc.
