Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete -- Autobiography Captures Author's Darkest Moments

NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Jack Vink's new book, Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete, (now available through AuthorHouse), is an autobiographical account of being betrayed by his true love and peering into the deep, dark and demonic abyss of his own subconscious; "it is the story of a man named Jack who died, but is not yet buried."

During Vink's career as a stockbroker, he allocated some of his clients' money to a secret investment "group" located in Las Vegas. The three partners in the investment syndicate were of Italian descent, says Vink, and lived in Newark, N.J. The FBI wanted information about the group, but Vink refused to provide any, which ultimately cost him five years of his life.

When Vink is betrayed by his true love, he drifts from town to town in his 1952 MG. His goal is to stay one step ahead of the FBI and the group. His travels take him over 400,000 miles across America during which time he is stabbed, beaten, robbed and bitten by a cottonmouth. He finds himself walking the dark alleys of strange cities late at night. As his downward spiral gathers speed, monsters and beasts from his subconscious bellow to be set free with the promise of exacting judgment on those for whom they were created. In the beginning, Vink controls these apparitions from hell with a stronger faith, but he knows it is only a matter of time before they escape. He is afraid to sleep knowing the nightmares come in the dark of night, and he fears for his own well-being.

"Angels and demons walk among us everyday. We have a choice of which road to take and that is what makes the human spirit so special," says Vink. "It is not preordained as many think. We have the power to choose between good and evil."

Angels and demons ride with him on his endless journey as he searches for "the most noble cause in the universe: true love."

A saga of good versus evil, of love and hate, of hope and salvation and even death, Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete is a true story about survival, and the climactic conclusion will surprise and haunt you forever.

Vink was born in California and raised in Minnesota. Banished to the Ribbons of Concrete is the first of a three-part series covering Vink's life. The Blue Eyed Succubus and The Primitive Id complete the trilogy. For more information, readers may go to www.ribbonsofconcrete.com.
