Media Advisory -- PRSA/OC Volunteers to Implement Critical PR Campaign


ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., Aug. 9, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- On Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at 3:30 p.m., the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Orange County Chapter will officially announce its support to implement a strategic 12-month public awareness campaign on a volunteer basis. The goal of the plan is to heightened awareness and understanding of the critical need for foster care and adoptive families in the county and to spotlight the variety of other ways people can provide love and care to the agencies and precious children within the system.

The announcement will take place at a historic collaborative PR meeting of 10 foster care and adoption agencies and programs who are part of the newly formed PR Partnership. Representation from the Board of Supervisors is also expected.

The meeting will take place at the Orange County Transportation Authority, 600 Main Street, in Santa Ana.

PRSA is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. Its nearly 20,000 members, organized into 116 chapters, represent business and industry, technology, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations.

Chartered in 1947, PRSA's primary objectives are to advance the standards of the public relations profession and to provide members with professional development opportunities through continuing education programs, information exchange forums and research projects conducted on the national and local levels.

The Orange County Chapter of PRSA has more than 260 members. The local PRSA board established the public service committee to aide the community with public relations, on a pro bono basis, in response to the county's critical needs. Upon reviewing 13 different social causes, the 2004/2005 PRSA Public Service Committee selected the Brain Injury Foundation and Foster Care/Adoption as their areas of focus.
