Wall Street News Alert U.S. Hot Stock Highlights -- August 12, Part 2

WESTON, Fla., Aug. 12, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Wall Street News Alert's "stocks to watch" this morning are: GEMZ Corp. (Pink Sheets:GMZP), Rofin-Sinar Technologies (Nasdaq:RSTI), Wet Seal Inc. (Nasdaq:WTSLA) and Calpine Corporation (NYSE:CPN).

Aggressive investors and traders will want to watch GEMZ Corp. (Pink Sheets:GMZP) again this morning! Yesterday after the markets closed, the company issued a press release announcing that Business Communication Company, Inc. has released an independent report (http://www.bccresearch.com/advmat/GB290.html) that estimates total global demand for nanoscale materials, tools, and devices was estimated at $7.6 billion in 2003 and is expected to grow at an AAGR (average annual growth rate) of 30.6% to reach $28.7 billion in 2008.

The projections in this report assume a continuation and expansion of the current economic recovery. Other trends, it is believed, will contribute to the future growth of the nanotechnology sector, including high levels of government support for nanotechnology R&D (estimated at over $2.2 billion in 2002, alone) and growing venture capital investments in nanotechnology companies, which have increased sixfold over the past two years.

This could be more good news for investors! Just last week we reported that Technology Review, MIT's Magazine of Innovative Technology, devoted the cover story of its latest issue (Vol. 107 / No. 6) to a discussion of the potential of solar power to keep cell phones and laptops recharged.

This is the initial focus of International Nanotechnology Corporation (INC), the wholly-owned subsidiary of GEMZ Corp. INC has made forward progress towards developing a solar-powered solution for powering cell phones and laptop computers

Laptop and cell phone users everywhere need a cost-effective way to continually power or recharge their units without plugging them in. Previous products on the market work only when they are recharged in direct sunlight. The INC products are believed to be the first to use PV Nanofilms, which combine thin photovoltaic films and nanotechnology so they can also work indoors in most lighting situations.

Keep your eyes on this company! INC previously announced that it had signed a letter of intent with Terra Solar Development Corp. (TSDC), a leading developer of photovoltaic and nanocell technology to acquire substantially all of its nanotechnology assets from a subsidiary of TSDC and to license certain photovoltaic assets as well. The solar-powered laptop and cell phone chargers will be the first products resulting from the planned combination.

The stock closed yesterday at around one and a half cents a share.

Stocks showing interesting activity yesterday at the close of the regular trading day were: Rofin-Sinar Technologies (Nasdaq:RSTI) up 25.3% on 964,017 shares traded, Wet Seal Inc. (Nasdaq:WTSLA) up 12.9% on 3.3 million shares traded and Calpine Corporation (NYSE:CPN) up 11.3% on 10.9 million shares traded.
