Intelligent Sports, Inc. Redefines the Student-Athlete

Recognizing the correlation between college-bound students and sport participation, Intelligent Sports, Inc. to open health and wellness center to provide athletic opportunities for youth

MINNEAPOLIS , Aug. 16, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intelligent Sports, Inc. (Pink Sheets:IGTS), recognizing the link between athletic participation and educational success, is launching a new health and wellness fitness center for kids with a mission of providing physical and mental guidance to all student-athletes.

"There are countless numbers of 8-year-old basketball players out there with dreams of making it to the NBA," said former NBA star and Intelligent Sports, Inc. board member, Reggie Theus. "While their odds of playing in even one NBA game aren't that great, what these kids don't realize is that by pursuing their dream they are increasing their odds of going to college."

According to a recent Surgeon General's report on physical activity, youth who say they plan to complete four years of college are much more likely than their peers to participate in school sports programs (58 percent compared with 42 percent among twelfth grade students in 2002).

"By participating in school sports programs kids learn to be accountable to their teammates and coaches, responsible for their actions, and masters of time management while balancing schoolwork, extra-curricular activities, friends and family," said Theus. "While important on the court or field, more valuable is the carryover of these principles into the classroom and everyday lives of these kids."

The initial focus of publicly held Intelligent Sports, Inc. (www.intelligentsports.net) is to introduce a new generation of youth to athletics through the development of organized youth sports programs and services throughout the country. With a board comprised of Reggie Theus, former NBA star, TV analyst, and University of Louisville Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, and Kellen Winslow, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame, Intelligent Sports is set to expand its format in winter 2005 supporting a diverse range of sports programs that promote individual athletic skill development, the concepts of teamwork and discipline, and a love of the game.
