Tyson-Williams Bout Creates Estimated $10,000,000 Lawsuit

LOUISVILLE, Ky. , Aug. 19, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Straight Out Promotions today filed multiple lawsuits in the Federal District Court of Western Kentucky against Sports Network, a partnership formed under the laws of England and Wales; Sports & Leisure, Boxing Ltd., a corporation formed under the laws of England and Wales and a General Partner of Sports Network; Frank Warren, a resident of Great Britain, in his individual capacity and as a General Partner of Sports Network and Brearly (International) Limited, a corporation formed under the laws of Gibraltar.

The basis for the litigation is the ongoing breach of numerous contracts by Sports Network, Brearly International, Sports & Leisure and Frank Warren relating to the illegal sale and subsequent broadcast of the Tyson-Williams fight and the future rights to promote Danny Williams in his quest for the heavyweight title.

Straight Out Promotions CEO Chris Webb stated: "It has become clear that these companies sold the broadcast rights and are collecting revenues which may exceed US$10,000,000 for the Tyson-Williams fight broadcast. It's very clear at this point they simply don't have any rights to that broadcast and we intend to enforce our rights to the fullest extent."

In other comments, corporate council Michael Tigue stated: "Unfortunately this litigation may affect several of Straight Out's business partners here in the United States including Showtime, who did a fantastic job on the Tyson-Williams fight broadcast."

Additionally, it remains unclear at this time whether Danny Williams will be able to step into the ring and pursue the heavyweight title until these issues are settled. Additional information is available at http://www.straightoutpromo.com/
