Northrop Grumman Showcases Military Technologies at Air Force Information Technology Conference


MONTGOMERY, Ala., Aug. 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight its network-centric solutions, maintenance operations and radio-frequency identification and integrated-operations infrastructure technologies next week at the 2004 Air Force Information Technology Conference.

The conference will take place Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 at the Montgomery Civic Center in Montgomery, Ala. Northrop Grumman will be located at booth number 223, showcasing its information technology solutions for the military.

Northrop Grumman will present various sessions throughout the conference. All seminars will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Room ES1. On Monday, August 30 at 2 p.m., Northrop Grumman's Joe Hehle, information technology (IT) service management practice manager, will present an overview on IT infrastructure management. Also on Monday, at 3 p.m., Robert Sherlock, storage solutions specialist, will present on continuity of operations planning and disaster recovery.

Northrop Grumman's Desiree Delprete, territory manager, Pacific Rim, will deliver a program overview of the Pacific Air Forces on Tuesday at 1 p.m. On Wednesday at 2 p.m., Dean Knuth, national account manager, wireless, will speak on mobile wireless local-area network security.

Northrop Grumman is working to engineer technologies that enhance the operations of the U.S. military. At the company's exhibit, conference attendees will learn about significant advances in information technology capabilities and how they are being deployed within Air Force operations.

The company will highlight its network-centric capabilities and teammates that are central to the U.S. Air Force Network Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) program. NETCENTS is a five-year, $9-billion, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity program that will provide the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, and other federal government agencies with information technology solutions and services, including network engineering, software development, integration, information storage and management, security and telephone services, and voice, video, and data communications products.

In addition, Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its automatic identification data capture technology for radio frequency identification (RFID). The application of RFID technology is rapidly moving into the marketplace, and for nearly two decades, Northrop Grumman has been a systems integrator of automatic information technology, including RFID solutions.

The company will also display its Enhanced Maintenance Operations Center (EMOC) it developed for the Air Force. The EMOC software solution consolidates the myriad databases used around the Air Force to track the status of the aircraft assigned to each wing and can be customized for each installation.

At the IT workstation, Northrop Grumman will demonstrate a live, integrated operations infrastructure illustrating three scenarios: workstation one will monitor and support process and workflow at the enterprise level; workstation two will observe network, systems and applications at the enterprise level; and workstation three will examine network, systems and applications in a situational awareness model of the enterprise mission.
