Laurie Smith Debuts in Lane Home Furnishings Ad Campaign

"Trading Spaces" Designer Touts Quality, Value and Fun as Lane's First Area Store Opens

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 25, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Area fans will soon be seeing a lot more of Laurie Smith, the Jackson, Miss. designer who is a popular star of the top-rated cable TV show "Trading Spaces."

Smith serves as spokesperson for Lane Home Furnishings as the company rolls out its first freestanding retail stores across North America.

Later this month, Smith kicks off a vigorous Las Vegas area advertising campaign as the first of three Lane stores opens at 621 Mall Ring Circle, near the Galleria Mall in the suburb of Henderson.

"Laurie is a perfect fit for us," said Skipper Holliman, executive vice president for sales and marketing with Mississippi-based Lane Home Furnishings. "She brings instant recognition and credibility, especially among female customers."

The Las Vegas campaign includes a rotation of seven television commercials for both local cable and over-the-air broadcast, a series of radio broadcast commercials, related Web materials and point-of-purchase displays.

In the spots, Smith plays off her role as one of the original two designers on Trading Spaces, where she and other designers help couples take on the challenge of redecorating one room in 48 hours for under $1,000. And Smith underscores the theme that Lane Home Furnishings can help consumers by "Bringing it all together. Comfortably."

Lane Home Furnishings is a 92-year-old furniture maker with an international reputation. The company is the world's leading maker of motion furniture, second largest manufacturer of recliners and a top maker of casegoods and cedar chests. Find out more at www.lanehomefurnishings.com.
