James Ellis Promoted to Vice Dean of USC Corporate Leadership Programs


LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- USC Marketing professor James Ellis, a former Chair of Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and local business owner, has been appointed Vice Dean of Corporate Programs, announced the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. The appointment is among the first made by new business dean Yash Gupta.

The Marshall School's Office of Corporate Programs provides continuing education for corporations and their executives. With the appointment executive programs the Program in Food Management and the Family Business Program, which Ellis once directed, move under the Vice Dean's purview.

"Our goal is to make Corporate Programs the global leader in business programs," said Ellis. "We will design and deliver world-class, results-oriented leadership programs that empower individuals and their organizations to achieve exceptional business results. This will be done with the needs of the client in mind at all times."

Ellis previously served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Business Program and currently holds a full time appointment as Associate Professor of Clinical Marketing. He teaches upper division Marketing classes as well as the Freshman Honors Colloquium for Business Scholars.

Ellis joined USC in 1997. Holding an MBA from the Harvard Business School, Ellis worked in the corporate world from 1970 to 1997. He served as President/CEO of Porsche Design, a high-end accessories company owned by Europe's Porsche family, from 1985-1990. He was Chairman and CEO of Port O'Call Pasadena, an upscale home accessory retailer between 1990-1997, as well as being a partner in six other companies.
