HERNDON, Va., Sept. 1, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Steven R. Perkins vice president, Business Development and Strategy for the company's Information Technology (IT) sector. He reports to James O'Neill, IT sector president.

In this role, Perkins will direct the sector's business development activities, which include overseeing the sector's long-range strategic plan, leading its marketing and communications initiatives, and managing the sector's internal partnerships and alliances.

"Steve is a recognized leader within the information technology field and understands our customers' needs," said O'Neill. "His track record in the defense, intelligence, federal civil, homeland security, state and local, commercial and international markets will serve us well as we support our customers with IT solutions and services, and pursue future business opportunities."

Perkins joins Northrop Grumman from Oracle Corporation, where he most recently managed two business units as a senior vice president of its North American Government, Education and Healthcare business, which included overseeing the company's aerospace and defense work.

He also developed and led Oracle's homeland security initiative, focusing on Department of Homeland Security transformational plans for prevention, protection, incident management and continuity of government services.

In earlier roles, Perkins was responsible for sales and brought software solutions and services that addressed complex business problems to the U.S. federal, state, and local governments, the Canadian government, and its provincial and local government agencies.

Perkins also served as the general manager for Oracle's Global Financial Services business, and led the commercial consulting business in North America.

Prior to joining Oracle in 1993, he was a vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he consulted on corporate IT strategy for global companies such as General Electric, IBM, American Express and J.P. Morgan.

Perkins earned his master's degree in public administration from American University, Washington, D.C.
