Productivity and comfort behind breakthrough order for Volvo Trucks in North America

GOTEBORG, Sweden, Sept. 1, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. has ordered 46 Volvo VN670s from Volvo Trucks North America. The VN670s will be the exclusive truck for its new Con-Way Truckload operation. Con-Way is one of the largest transportation and logistics companies in North America and is a new customer for Volvo Trucks North America, Inc.

Con-Way Truckload begins operations in the first quarter of 2005. The company ordered 46 Volvo VN670s with 465 hp Volvo VED12 engines, for delivery by Dec. 31, 2004. Con-Way plans to expand its fleet during 2005.

The need to recruit and retain the best drivers was a critical factor in Con-Way's decision to choose the Volvo VN.

"The reputation of the Volvo VN with drivers will help us attract the professionals we need despite the tremendous current competition for drivers", said Douglas W. Stotlar, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Con-Way. ``The best and most productive drivers demand the most productive truck, so they can maximize their income. They also want a safe, comfortable and high-quality work environment."

Con-Way is a subsidiary of Palo Alto, California-based CNF Inc. (NYSE:CNF), a $5.1 billion management company of global supply chain services with businesses in regional trucking, air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, global logistics management and trailer manufacturing.
