MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- AARP has named First Horizon National Corp. to its annual list of AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50. This is the second consecutive year that First Horizon -- parent company of FTN Financial, First Horizon Home Loans and First Tennessee Bank -- has received this honor. AARP recognized the 35 companies on its 2004 list for their best practices and policies for valuing the mature worker.

This honor adds to First Horizon's list of recognition as one of the nation's best employers:

    in America

    Citizens

The entrants were evaluated on innovative practices toward workers 50 and older including recruitment practices, continuing opportunities for advancement, flexible work schedules and benefits for current and retired employees. The awards recognize companies for valuing a growing percentage of the workforce. Nationally, 14 percent of the workforce is 55 or older now, and that percentage is expected to reach 19 by 2012.
