SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- (Intel Developer Forum) SimpleTech, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC), a designer, manufacturer and marketer of custom and open-standard memory solutions based on Flash memory, DRAM and hard disk drive technologies, today announced the availability of ultra low profile registered Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs) and DDR2 Mini-DIMM Memory Modules. SimpleTech will demonstrate the modules at the Intel Developer Forum (Memory Community, booth No. 809) in San Francisco, Calif., September 7-9, 2004.
The ultra low profile (0.72" high) registered DDR2 DIMMs have data transfer rates of up to 4.2 GB/sec, are available in capacities of 512MB, 1GB and 2GB, and are suitable for sub 1U systems and blade servers. The DDR2 Mini-DIMMs have dimensions of 3.25" x 1.18", are available in registered and unbuffered form factors in capacities of 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and 2GB, and are suited for networking/storage applications.
"Our proprietary ball grid array stacking technology allows us to double the capacity of our DDR2 modules within the standard form factor and the ultra low profile design," said Kavous Vakilian, DRAM product marketing manager at SimpleTech. "The modules are ideal for space-constrained applications, such as blade servers and networking equipment, that require the highest capacity in the smallest form factor."
Additionally, SimpleTech's stacked BGA devices are available in 1Gb (using two 512Mb devices), and 2Gb (using two 1Gb devices) for integrated/custom applications, and meet the JEDEC standard size pin-out.
SimpleTech has had significant interaction with JEDEC, the memory standards organization, to meet industry design specifications. SimpleTech also is an active member of the Memory Implementers Forum (www.memforum.org), an online community advancing key memory technologies such as DDR2.
Engineering samples are currently available to OEM customers. Distribution is scheduled to begin this month through industrial distributors.
