IBM to Enable Simple and Affordable Storage Solutions Using Emulex SAN Storage Switches

COSTA MESA, Calif., Sept. 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the world leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters and embedded storage switches, and a provider of intelligent building blocks for the storage networking industry, today announced that IBM has selected a custom version of Emulex's new SAN Storage Switch product for a new IBM entry level storage switch offering.

"Emulex worked closely with the IBM Systems and Technology Group to leverage Emulex's SAN Storage Switch product into a unique and highly competitive entry-level SAN switch solution offering: The IBM TotalStorage Storage Switch L10," said Jim McCluney, president and chief operating officer, Emulex Corp. "We're delighted that IBM is taking advantage of the inherent simplicity and affordability of our SAN Storage Switch, and the fact that they've targeted it for use with such a broad spectrum of their TotalStorage solution product line underscores the value proposition of our new SAN Storage switches."

Emulex's SAN Storage Switches are based on the company's award-winning and field-proven InSpeed(tm) technology, and were specifically designed to meet entry-level switch users' requirements for low-cost and absolute simplicity.
