EMS Satellite Networks to Deliver Equipment to Alcatel Space For Its 'DSL in the Sky' DVB-RCS Satellite Solutions


ATLANTA, Sept. 10, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that its Satellite Networks division has sold two DVB-RCS Return Link Sub-Systems (RLSS) to Alcatel Space, a subsidiary of Alcatel (Paris:CGEP.PA) (NYSE:ALA). One RLSS will be delivered by Alcatel Space to a customer in North Africa, and the second system will be delivered to a Middle Eastern country ally for service in the same region. Both deliveries are planned for the fourth quarter of 2004.

Alcatel's "DSL in the Sky" DVB-RCS solution provides satellite operators, telcos and ISPs with DSL-like capabilities to offer broadband services to consumers and/or small and medium-size enterprises over satellite. EMS Satellite Networks provides Alcatel Space with DVB-RCS Return Link Sub-Systems (RLSS), and end-user terminals. Alcatel integrates this EMS equipment into its "DSL in the Sky" solution.
