STOCK COMMENTARY:
The major averages finished Monday in the neighborhood of the lows of the trading session. The trading activity that forced technology stocks upwards petered out toward the end. Large-cap stocks were essentially unchanged all day.
Another hurricane continues to head toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. That, plus persistent world economic unrest presses stock traders to find reasons to go long. An extraordinary number of stock investors feel the market will pull back to end the week.
Our stock-pickers believe that a sell off will be brief. Naturally, our researchers totally agree with many of the stock commentators, yet, our view is, for the most part, positive for the long term.
