STOCK COMMENTARY:
The major averages closed Monday near the lows for the market session. The trading that drove Tech stocks into positive territory fizzled into the close. Dow stocks were essentially unchanged most of the day.
Another hurricane continues to make headway toward the US Gulf Coast. That, and continued world economic unrest presses market watchers to dig deep for reasons to go long. A surprising number of stock traders think equity markets will drop to end the trading week.
