STOCK COMMENTARY:
US equities closed Monday near the lows for the session. The trading that pushed tech stocks upwards fizzled into the finish. Blue Chips were basically flat most of the market day.
The season's third hurricane, Ivan, proceeds to barrel down on the US Gulf Coast. That, and stubborn political instability forces traders to discover reasons to cover short positions. A lot of investors think the US markets will sell off to finish the trading week.
