EMS Technologies Selected For Development of B-2 EHF SATCOM Antenna System

ATLANTA, Sept. 14, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that its EMS' Space & Technology/Atlanta division has been selected by Northrop Grumman to develop an Extremely High Frequency (EHF) Satellite Communication (SATCOM) Antenna Systems for the U.S. Air Force's B-2 Stealth Bomber. The antenna system will enable worldwide high-data rate military satellite communications between the B-2 and MILSTAR and Advanced EHF (AEHF) satellites.

The system design is based on antenna systems EMS developed and produced for use in commercial aviation for in-flight satellite entertainment.

EHF SATCOM is one of several ways the Air Force and Northrop Grumman are improving the B-2 weapon system with the latest technologies so the bomber can continue to play an important role in the military's emerging integrated battlespace. Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector is the B-2 prime contractor.

"We are proud to have been selected to add our expertise in mobile communication to the U.S. Air Force, Northrop Grumman B-2 team," said Jay Grove, senior vice president and general manager of EMS Technologies' Space & Technology/Atlanta business unit. "We bring a SATCOM solution that offers both advanced technology and affordability to the B-2 weapon system."
