Emulex HBAs Available Through New EMC Select Program

Program Enables Customers to Purchase Emulex Products Directly From EMC to Help Complete Storage Solutions

COSTA MESA, Calif., Sept. 15, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the market leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs), today announced that its LightPulse(tm) HBAs are available from EMC through the new EMC Select Program. The program offers customers convenient access to Emulex HBAs that have achieved EMC E-Lab(tm) Tested status and are qualified for use with EMC Symmetrix and EMC CLARiiON networked storage solutions.

The EMC Select Program helps customers ease acquisition and deployment of more complete information lifecycle management (ILM) solutions by obtaining commonly used storage networking components directly from EMC. Partners involved in the EMC Select Program offer a wide range of high-quality hardware products that complement and complete end-to-end storage solutions from EMC.

"Emulex has worked with EMC for years to deliver products that are interoperable and complementary to EMC's broad portfolio of market-leading storage offerings," said Mike Smith, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Emulex Corp. "The EMC Select Program takes this relationship to a new level. Our HBAs provide EMC customers with the scalability and reliability required to help implement information lifecycle management."

"Through the new EMC Select Program, we can serve our customers more efficiently by offering a single source for information storage solutions," said Tom Joyce, Senior Director, EMC Select Program, NAS Product Marketing. "Customers have asked us to provide 'solution completer' products that are E-Lab Tested from leading vendors like Emulex to help provide more complete ILM solutions."

The E-Lab Tested qualification process is a series of exhaustive functionality and reliability tests to ensure the interoperability of all components that make up a multi-vendor information storage network.

The Emulex family of LightPulse(tm) HBAs offers a unique firmware-based architecture and operating system driver compatibility across Emulex's HBA product line, which provides customers with a simplified upgrade path, reduced management complexities and also ensures a lower total cost of ownership.
