Southwestern Medical Solutions To Introduce Special Prenatal-Care Screening In Dedicated Version Of Labguard Accucheck(TM)

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 21, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Southwestern Medical Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets:SWMD) is pleased to announce that it is planning to develop, and introduce to the consumer marketplace, a diagnostic testing kit that will include: pregnancy, gestational diabetes, bacteria and infertility testing.

During pregnancy, high levels of sugar discovered through urinalysis indicate the need for a glucose tolerance test. NICE (the UK's National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guidelines also suggest that all women should have their urine tested for bacteria early in their pregnancy in view of the link between certain bacteria and premature birth.

CONVENIENT KIT FORMAT PLANNED

The forthcoming prenatal/women's health tests will be packaged in a kit format that will allow for the testing of fertility/infertility, then to test for pregnancy, bacteria, and, through follow up with physician during pregnancy, a final test for gestational diabetes. It is intended that the kit will facilitate both on-site testing at home, and packaging for delivery through mail for follow-up at laboratories via physician request.

NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION

The planned kit will be the first of its kind covering many aspects of women's health needs, and will be offered at retail markets as well as being sold through distributors to the healthcare community, including physicians and clinics nationally.
